JTRE’s inaugural ESG report

ESG report JTRE

JTRE - in its almost 30 years - has become a real estate development leader in Slovakia and Central Europe. We create integrated urban neighbourhoods that support rewarding lifestyles. By blending functions, our sustainable urban environments embrace long-term innovative solutions. The unveiling of our first ESG report today underlines this approach, and clearly shows our commitment to sustainable development.

We initiated the emission-free cooling of River Park buildings with the Danube’s water 15 years ago. When Westend Gate received our first BREEAM certificate in 2014, it set a new standard for subsequent projects and started our journey towards environmentally-friendly buildings. Sustainability has become an integral part of our projects and of JTRE itself: higher construction quality, innovation, and the stronger role of social responsibility – which led to the establishment of our ESG department in 2022 and our first ESG strategy.

We present our inaugural ESG report – a document that represents a new milestone on our journey towards sustainability, transparency and social responsibility. Far beyond a factual summary, this document also highlights our commitment to bringing about positive change and sustainable development.

The ESG report was prepared with support from with Deloitte experts, and in accordance with internationally recognized GRI standards to ensure that our report is comprehensive, consistent and comparable with other companies. The report also partially integrates the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) under the CSRD Directive.

“Although mandatory reporting for JTRE will only start in 2026, we are choosing to act now. We sought to emphasize our responsibility and commitment to being a sustainability leader. We believe that transparent reporting, sharing successes, and identifying areas for improvement are essential for building trust with our stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors and the wider community.”

Martin Stohl, JTRE’s ESG manager

JTRE fully acknowledges construction’s major environmental impact, and our responsibility to mitigate and address the climate crisis’s consequences. Through our new projects’ sustainable design and construction, as well as the responsible operation of our buildings and offices, sustainability has become a key business priority. For example, we are planning the new Nové Lido area as functionally carbon neutral.

Our priorities include increasing energy efficiency, decarbonization throughout the value chain, creating a quality living and working environment, as well as developing sustainable construction and infrastructure. We support our employees, ensure workplace safety and healthy lifestyles, and respect good corporate governance and ethical business conduct. We appreciate that this report represents only the first step on a longer sustainability journey - we will continue to refine our strategies, set new goals, and improve reporting practices.

This ESG report includes our activities, initiatives, and results for the period January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Each chapter contains objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs). In this way, 2023 will be a reference year for us. The report was prepared by our internal ESG team, with the support of the board of directors and external sustainability experts.
